Writing poetry is solitary work, and it’s easy to get too close to your own words. Gaining enough perspective to see what a draft needs next is often the hardest part of the process.

As an editor and longtime writer, my role isn’t to steer your style toward a mold or smooth away what makes your voice yours. I approach your drafts as an attentive reader—helping you hear the poem clearly, find where the energy is strongest, and figure out how each line can better support what you set out to say.

Ways to Work Together

• Individual Poems & Small Groups of Work

  Close, line-by-line reading and margin notes. We’ll look at pacing, line breaks, word choice, and clarity. It’s ideal for poems you’ve worked on for a while but can’t quite seem to finish.

• Chapbook & Full Manuscript Development

  Stepping back to look at the whole picture. We’ll focus on the order of the poems, the flow from start to finish, recurring threads, and getting the collection ready to send out into the world.

• One-on-One Consultations

  Direct, conversational sessions—in person, by phone, or virtual. A space to talk through specific trouble spots, revision habits, or where you want to take your writing next.
